5-Day Desert Tour from Fez to Marrakech via Merzouga

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

Departure for Merzouga via Ifrane, Midelt, Errachidia, Erfoud and Rissani. Lunch is in one of the towns or villages along the way, depending on the weather, and there are stops to enjoy the landscapes, including the cedar forest where monkeys live in the wild. Arrival in Merzouga for dinner.

Overnight: Merzouga – hotel

Day 2: Merzouga – Desert adventure and camel trek

After breakfast, visit a nomad family for tea and an introduction to nomadic life, then continue to Khamlia to learn more about the Berber people of the desert. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, ride a camel into the dunes of Merzouga to watch the sunset.

Overnight: Merzouga – desert bivouac in nomad tents

Day 3: Merzouga – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Wake early to watch the sunrise. After breakfast, drive to Erfoud, known for its fossils, and cross the Tafilalet oasis, with a short stop to see the old irrigation system before Tinejdad. Continue to the Todra Gorge, with free time for lunch in one of the local restaurants between the canyon walls and a walk through the gorge. Arrival in the Dades Valley for dinner.

Overnight: Dades Valley

Day 4: Dades Valley – Kelaat M’Gouna – Skoura – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, set off for Boumalne Dades and walk through the Dades Valley. Continue via Kelaat M’Gouna, the land of roses, and Skoura to Ouarzazate, where you visit the Taourirt kasbah. Dinner at your hotel.

Overnight: Ouarzazate

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, discover Ouarzazate: the Tifoultoute kasbah and the film studios. Then head to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to visit the kasbah and the old village. In the afternoon, drive over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon.
