Tour overview
A four-day loop from Fez to the Sahara and back by a different road. You reach Merzouga through the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley, spend a day discovering desert life before a sunset camel ride and a night in a nomad camp, then return north via the Todra Gorge and the remote mountain town of Imilchil, with Meknes and Volubilis on the last day.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Errachidia – Merzouga
Morning departure from Fez towards Errachidia via Ifrane, with a stop in the Azrou cedar forest to see the Middle Atlas monkeys. Lunch in Midelt, then enter the Ziz Valley with magnificent views over its pools, gorges and palm groves. Visit the marble and fossil workshops of Erfoud before reaching Merzouga.
Overnight: Merzouga – hotel near the dunes
Day 2: Merzouga – Tour of Erg Chebbi – Camel ride
After breakfast, discover desert life around Merzouga: small villages and oases, local nomads in their tents, the Mifis mines and the Gnawa village, crossing the different desert plateaus. After lunch, return to the hotel to start your camel ride and enjoy a beautiful sunset over the dunes.

Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Imilchil
An unhurried departure after breakfast for Imilchil via Tinghir, with a photo stop at the ancient irrigation channels of Jorf, then the oasis of Touroug and Tinejdad. Lunch at the Todra Gorge, where a short walk between the cliffs is recommended, then continue through beautiful canyons and Berber villages to Imilchil, arriving in the evening.

Day 4: Imilchil – Khenifra – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
Early departure after breakfast for Fez via Khenifra, with a photo stop. In Meknes you have lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant next to the old medina and its famous Bab Mansour gate. After lunch, visit the Roman site of Volubilis, then arrive in Fez in the evening.
